Republican Political FundraisingGreed
and corruption are the watchwords for political fundraising by the Republican
Party. From the Tom Delay indictment to the abuses of Jack Abrahoff, the GOP has
been caught with its figurative hand in the cookie jar. And what is the Republican
Congress doing about it? Nothing but lip service.
And why should they do anything?
Republicans control the White House, the Senate, the House of Represnetatives and the Supreme Court. It is their party that benefits from these political fundraising abuses. Why should they stop?
No one has any power to stop them; not the courts, not the Justice Department, not the cop on the street. They are free to continute their abuse of the political system as they go about their fundraising.
Democratic Party National Chairman Howard Dean had this to say recently:
"Republicans in Washington are running scared, as they should be. Even Republican leaders in Congress have admitted that this is a Republican corruption scandal, centered around their most prominent Washington lobbyist.
"The GOP's latest rumors are pure fiction. Right-wing media organizations citing questionable confidential sources falsely allege that some Democrats are the subject of the investigation - even though these same Democrats have not been contacted by the Justice Department. Any source who would say that Tom DeLay is not tied to Jack Abramoff has been hiding out in the Marianas Islands for the last sixth months with their head in the sand.
"The fact is not one Democrat took money from Jack Abramoff. The American people deserve better than corrupt politicians rewarding their corrupt lobbyist friends. Democrats are committed to cleaning up Washington."
The only thing we, the people, can do is vote the abusers out of office.
Let's take back control of the political fundraising process and put a stop to the abuses. Join us.
